Is it ok to have a unclassified area open into an class 1 div 1 that is seperated by a doorway? Should there be an transition area of div 2? 500.5 B (2)3 does not indicate how large the transition area sould be if required.

Engineers and building officials make the call on that stuff. Contact the AHJ and have them make the call.
