Paul et al, Thanks for the best wishes. Especially coming from the other side of the pond. Your loss was definately our gain. A special thanks to Lafeyette. I'll drink a toast to him tonight. To reciprocate: God save the Queen. Alan--
Alan-- If it was easy, anyone could do it.

"The Second Day of July 1776 will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. . . . It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires, and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more." John Adams to his wife. July 3, 1776 http://www.thedeclarationofindependence.org/ They printed the Documents on the 4th, it was not signed by New York until the 9th....

And yes Alan, if it were not for the French funding, and especially Lafeyette, as well as a hand-over of the win from Comte de Rochambeau at Yorktown, we would still have the Queen on our money, and Soccer would be our national sport, like the rest of the world.

You might also have: * All domestic appliances running on 240V * 625-line PAL television * Driving on the "wrong" side of the street * Weird road signs * No tea in Boston Harbor...... And to make things even worse, just think who you would have as a Prime Minister!

Nah, you would have become disgusted with us and kicked us out of the empire by now. Red Coats clash with Red Necks !
