I was taking one of my classes for my 34 hr. CEUs today, and a question came up that had the class and instructor stumped.
One of the guys was red-tagged by an inspector on a service installation using PVC conduit on the driveway side of a house. He used Sch. 80 pipe, with an LB below the meter pan to penetrate the wall into the panel.
Inspector claimed that the LB was subject to damage because it wasn't Schedule 80 rated.
Are heavy schedule PVC conduit bodies even manufactured?

You need to contact the manufacturer. Most claim that the reinforcing in the LBs creates a strength comparable to Sch. 80 conduit. In my experience I have seen Sch. 40 conduit fail but have yet to see an LB broken. Be carfull about using a metal LB if it is connected to PVC at both ends and has service conductors, because you now have to bond the LB. Alan--Inspector.

I did a service like this this week. I used schedule 80 on the load side from the meter to the disco and lb'ed into a sweep and then into the panel. What I didn't do, though, was show the lettering on the schedule 80 to prove to the inspector that it was used. Do you think the inspector will fail the job?

ShockMe77, if you used a PVC LB, pull the cover off the LB, the end of the pipe is probably visible and the wall thickness can be seen.

Can't say I ever seen/found a Sch 80 condulet, MA/FA/Cplg, etc.
Had the same thought, "should be same sch as conduit???".......called Carlon, had a chuckle. Guy said something to the effect of Alan Nadon's comments.
