I don't understand Joe, does one need to 'be there' and defend thier position??

sparky, no but it is a good idea if you can spend the time there and listen in on the issues. If I want, when my proposals come to the floor I may be able to discuss my position. I have many friends there and some of my former students are now on the committees and it makes me feel good to see them, and in some ways carry on. I will be there for business on behalf of my company and while I am there I will do some photo shoots of the area.

Joe,
I have about 150 proposals in. Most are related to my main proposal to replace the words "equipment grounding conductor" with "equipment bonding conductor". That is proposal 5-41, Log 1881. When I submitted the proposal, I didn't think that there was much of a chance that it would be accepted, but now I see a number of other proposals, including one done in cooperation with a CMP 5 member, to make the same change, there is a better chance that the change will be made.
Another proposal adds a new exception to 250.30(A)(4). This exception would eliminate the requirement to provide a grounding electrode for a transformer used as a SDS where the primary feed originates in the same building where the transformer is located. The primary EGC can do all of the functions required of the grounding electrode in 250.4(A). This is proposal 5-59 and Log 2716.
In proposal 1-134, Log 1868, I asked that the following words be added to the definition of Separately Derived System:
"For the purposed of this section, a connection between the grounding conductors on the primary and secondary side of a transformer shall not be considered a direct electrical connection".

Here is one of mine:
Quote

Log #2750
NEC-P17
17-76 - ( 680-21 (A)(4)):
SUBMITTER: Bill Addiss
Electrical Contractor Network

RECOMMENDATION:
Add sentence to the end of 680.21(A)(4):
GFCI protection shall be provided for all Pool-associated motors installed at One Family Dwellings.

SUBSTANTIATION:
Requiring GFCI protection for all Pool associated motors installed at, or in, One Family Dwellings would increase overall safety and discourage the practice of hard wiring that some may do to avoid the cost of providing GFCI protection. It has been my observation that most hard-wired pump installations located at One-Family dwellings will eventually become hazardous because of disconnection and reconnection by less than qualified persons during servicing or winterizing procedures.

I have read the proposals to remove the controversial restriction on NM cable above commercial drop ceilings and I'll be watching and waiting to see what happens.
