Alternates between a '90 Ford E350 (Rolling Bomb)company van, a '97 Chev company PU, and my own 2000 GMC PU. Not much ? as to which one I prefer to drive, but the napalm van is laden with material and tools (bad tires and all)

'98 Chevy 1/2 Ton. (company truck) It's got about 78,000 miles and has had the rear end replaced twice and the transmision once. It had a rough begining in life but has been trouble free since the transmision replacement at 50,000.

Hey CT. We have a 98,99 F150 with the new overhead cam v6 and 4 speed auto-trans. And we like'em Had an extra spring put in the rear of one of them and it pulls the Bobcat or siz-lift just great.

hal- Thats good to know. I guess they improved them since the new style F150s came out. I'll keep that in mind when I go to look at a new F150 xlt 4x4 with the v6 and the manual. Sweet truck... But the auto in mine still stinks...I cant wait to get rid of that thing.

2000 Ford F-350 4x4 PowerStroke Diesel w/extracab
Spend lots of time off road and many miles working out of town jobs, this truck is solid. Already have 95k miles. Still runs like a raped ape ;-) The extra cab gives me plenty a room for 2 file cabinets and the LIBRARY of paper work and osha crap ya gotta carry these days. And I HIGHLY suggest "Rhino" lining for the bed. Thats stuff is amazing. NOTHING hurts it.
Had a '98 F-250 before, put 135,000 miles on it in a few years. Except for the 2 trani jobs, it ran great.

My '83 GMC one ton van is rapidly approaching its 20th birthday (I took delivery in Oct. '82). I kept it out of service long enough to build in the wood shelving the way I wanted it, shot to the van's ribs with LOTS of drywall screws. I did this with the intention of driving the vehicle into the ground. It has had its occasional mechanical problem, and 19 1/2 years in Minnesota de-icers has required body work where the undercoat didn't get to or gave out.
But here's the point. It has 124,000 actual miles on it. I've had my share of jobs that are 40 or more miles out, but, over the 19 1/2 years, that GMC has only seen 124,000 mile posts. I am in a major metro area, so this helps to shorten my trips.
But still. . .
The idea of the windshield face time required to rack up that same mileage in 2 or 3 years blows my mind.
Respectfully,
Al
