I have just started my own electrical bus and finished the rough in of a 3000+ sg ft home about a week ago. Now I have already been paid 2/3 rds of the total cost (based on so mush a foot including wire and boxes ect) My Question is should I charge the same per foot and the same footage to rewire the same house after the wire was cut out last night?
The builder just called me today and said someone cut out most of the wire.
I want to be fair to me and the builder.

Are the boxes still there? If so, I would give a discount based on the labor for drilling all the holes and mounting the boxes, but that's about it. And if your wire cost has gone up since you bid this originally (and it probably has), the difference might eat up the discount. [Linked Image]

Not your fault that the jobsite wasn't secured, so why should you be on the hook for the cost of rework?

Yes the boxes are still there along with the panels and entrance cables. Also got some of the phone and cables (mine)
I plan to charge the full price to rewire but the total cost included set out (which hasnt been done ) I always get 2/3rds of the total cost after rough in. Sould I charge just the 2/3rds again?

Basically, cost of rough, minus drilling time and boxes.

Either the builder, or you should have insurance to cover theft.

Only drugged idiots could gain by cutting up your Romex.

You will find that their 'efforts' have virtually ruined your work.

Do not, I say, do NOT offer a great break for the GC.

He is the genius that permitted the insecurity.

It is what it is: a terrific burden on you.

I went to the house yesterday and looked about for a while and found that the upstairs only needs new home runs with exception of the hall which is a total wreck with all thje 3 and 4 ways.
They ripped almost ALL the middle floor including the kitchen but only stole the tubing from the basement

Since insurance should cover the cost of the rewire, I'd charge regular rate, minus drill & boxes.

Unless the GC's a buddy, or is eating the cost, in which case I'd adjust accordingly.

I would charge T&M. If your area is anything like mine, the 12-2 costs $80.00 more per thou than it did 10 days ago. Keep that in mind. Since March I have held to a new policy for new homw wiring. If my bid is accepted, you need to sign a contract with me and pay a deposit of 30% of the job within 5 days for me to hold to the quoted price. This allows me to go right out and purchase the romex needed for the job. Margins in residential work are already too slim to try and cover in an estimate and still be competitive. If I had wired a house 2 weeks ago with $275.00 per thou 12-2 I would be replacing it with $355.00 per thou 12-2 today. I'm not willing to eat that amount.
