Going to see the job later, but checking stuff out I find 40a GFI alone a lot more expensive than a 50a spa disco(complete) at the orange store.Probably want to use one the unit is rated(40a) for, huh; thoughts?

How about putting a regular 40 amp 2 pole in the panel & installing a spa disconnect near the spa that comes with a 2 pole 50 amp GFI?

Few things are harder to put up with than the annoyance of a good example.

Yeah,40a overload/fault @ the panel and GFI @ the disco, good idea, is it kosher? Just got back from the h/o's;the co. he's getting it from has a 40a GFI x-t disco for $100 so I told him to get it; I wasn't finding one local.BTW,he called hot-to-go, but when I got there some concrete guy was taking his measurements: I chuckled. And thanks.

How well do you know your supplier? One of my 3 main supply houses swapped the breakers for me last time (other 2 said no way). I bought the package deal and they took back the 50 and put a 40 in it.
Won't hurt to ask, all they can do is say no.
