See www.federalpacific.com/literature/drytrans/FPTS-RTB-0701.pdf possibly “figure B” on page 40.. There are plenty of variations—judge for yourself.

The trans I had only had a H! and H2. Do these get tied to line or load. It is like pg 42 diagram 2

Your connections do not sound correct, can you post the xfmr data or connection information that was supplied? Perhaps we can decipher better then.

Looks like you have a 240 VAC × 16/32 VAC Split Coil (Secondary) 1Ø Isolated Transformer - judging from the Voltages listed and the Terminals
(Input = 208 VAC, Output = 240 VAC - hence the 32 VAC Secondary, + H1, H2, X1, X2, X3, X4).

Take a look at these Schematics from the Technical Reference Section:

Actually, the Voltages listed in these Schematics differ from yours, but the concepts are the same.
Along with this, instead of having a Split Coil Primary, or a Primary setup for use at either 120 or 240 VAC as these drawings show, your Transformer has a Single Primary Coil wound for 240 VAC (or 208 VAC).

The Terminals on your Xformer would be "H1" and "H2" only, so in this case, your Transformer would have the "H2" Termination done to where the "H4" Termination is shown in the Schematics.
This way, the Secondary Coils are in a Series Adding Connection methodology...

FYI, refer to the Tech. Reference section for more drawings and details, regarding the Voltage Boosting and Voltage Bucking setups.

Let us know if you do not understand this information, and if the Transformer is salvagable,
or you are able to Put The Smoke Back Inside The Windings

Sparks, take a look at page 44 diagram 10A. It looks more like what you are trying to do.

I tied H1 to 1leg of input208 and H2 to other leg of input. Then wire nuted the x2-x3 together. Then 1leg of output to x1 and the other leg to x2.

Sparks; from what you just posted sounds ilke you've connected the primary correctly, but the x2/x3 connection shorted half of the secondary winding. The connection from primary to secondary as in the diagrams was missing from your hookup. So:

Wire H1 to one leg of 208;
Nut H2 AND x1 together, this is the other leg of 208;
Cap off x2; not used here
LOAD will connect as :
One leg to H1;
Other leg to x3

That should do it. Comments, gentlemen?

That sound more like it. The trans came out of the box with no paperwork, so I had to go with what was on the trans itself. everyone thanks for the help. I'll try not to smoke onother one.
