Hello everyone! Wish I had seen this thread sooner. I've been coming to this site for about 3 months now and love it!

I've been "in the business" since 1990 when I enlisted in the Navy to learn the trade. Obviously, the military does not train you to snake wires from a basement to an attic, but that is precisely the type of work I've been doing ever since.

Since 1990, I have worked for a number of different contractors in New Jersey doing mostly residential work, but some commercial and industrial as well. Not until recently, though, have I taken my career REALLY seriously. As soon as I started doing that, sure enough, I found this website. I cannot even begin to tell all of you how much your shared knowledged has improved my knowledge of the code in the field and how much better I am doing at work since the first time I logged onto this site. I'm being 100% serious here, too.

I wanted to take the NJ state licensing exam this year but found out I didn't qualify because of reasons I wish not to discuss in a public forum. I am not a bad guy, but have made some poor business decisions in the past.

In the next 4 years I plan on taking the required apprenticship course to qualify as a certified electrical contractor in the state of New Jersey. I can hardly wait to be "taught" how to wire a single pole switch, again.

I suppose by now you could say I am "babbling" so I will end this here.

Welcome all newcomers!

For those who don't yet know me:

British, born 1966, from London originally but now living in the depths of rural Norfolk (county), about 120 miles from the capital.

Electronics nut since a very young age, interested in old radios, audio gear, telephones, test equipment, etc. Worked in telecommunications and various electronics fields, and also carry out wiring (residential and a little very light commercial).

Lived in Nebraska some years back, and also traveled extensively in the Deep South. [Linked Image]

Oh, and I've heard of Manhattan, KS too! It was on my list of possibilities before I ended up in Neb.

Not much to update here. I am officially retired these days. I still have my license but I put it in inactive status so people would stop trying to get me to come back to work wink
I do try to keep up with where the code is going but it is clear the CMPs are dominated by manufacturers.
