Are any of you using type S/O cable to supply fixed electric motors in an industrial setting? I believe that this is allowed under 400.7 Uses Permitted (7) Prevention of the transmission of noise or vibration.

We have several 25 to 125 HP motors that repeatedly rub through the conductor insulation in the flexible conduit near the motor. Am considering replacing the last few feet of conduit and wire to a Type S/O or perhaps even a type W flexible cable.

Meltric has a scheme dialed in for industrial motors.

Though not well shown in Meltric's photos, their device is obviously suitable for strain relief modification/ enhancement.

Other NEMA players have directly competing products -- and all should be examined.

Hubbell makes a slew of Kellums style strain reliefs -- suitable for SO cord -- and much more.

Strain relief can be added on to Sealtite whips, too.

Additional possibilities:

Use Sealtite angled fittings -- angled at 45 degrees, that is.

These can kick the passage of a whip clear of trouble -- where a straight or 90 did not.
