I will admit that is something I obsess over... after all, the devil is in the details. Blue, orange, yellow, gray... they don't do it for me. I must have my black wire nuts! White is fine by me too... as long as they're ceramic.

Are you a wire nut nut? What about tan and red? Those are my favorites.

T believe that the 2013 BSEC requires wire nuts to be the same color as the wires they're connecting.

I like the somewhat standardized colors. It makes it easier to see if the right size was used.

NickD restores things like these: ![[Linked Image from scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net]](https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/35190_113120598737468_8196886_n.jpg) ![[Linked Image from scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net]](https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/375476_262626300453563_1620829244_n.jpg) hence his fondness for black & porcelain wirenuts (I stole the pictures from the "Introduce Yourself" thread. There are more than these there)

I just like beauty and class when I do my electrical work... colors tend to look "cheesy" to me, like children's playthings. Below is a rare Gray Instrument Wheatstone bridge from my collection. Hand built and insanely expensive in its day... (date in dispute) ![[Linked Image from antiqueradios.com]](http://antiqueradios.com/forums/download/file.php?id=8790&sid=ee0757adc2e906a47a397ef5959ef866.jpg) ![[Linked Image from antiqueradios.com]](http://antiqueradios.com/forums/download/file.php?id=8804&sid=ee0757adc2e906a47a397ef5959ef866.jpg)

Very nice indeed. I recall using instruments like that when I was at college, and they were old then, more than fifty years ago.
