You must have Smart meters, to allow for time of day charge.

'Smart meters' have been 'replacements' by our POCOs for a while. Personally, I still have a 'dumb' meter at my house.

I just got my bill
Customer Charge $5.90 Storm Charge $1.25 Franchise charge $7.16 Tax $5.97
Fuel Charge First 1000 kwh $.038570 over 1000 kwh $.048570
Non-Fuel First 1000 kwh $.046990 over 1000 kwh $.056990
Bottom line 2327 kwh costs $245.91 or 10.57 cents/kwh
Just for gee whiz info that is equal to 13.54a @ 240v 24/7.
At a dime a kwh it will certainly take a long time to pay back $8 a watt solar collectors when my solar contractor says I can only count on 5-6 hours a day at the rated output. That is something like 33 years before the rebates.

Greg: Use my rates and that 2327 KWHr would cost $ 485.00 Plus, customer chg, and taxes based on our summer rates. Rough number of .21 censt a KWHr.
That cuts your payback roughly to 16+ years w/o rebates.

Customer charge- (my pleasure to do business with them) $4.00 Distribution charge-(see above) 0.03348 - 1st 15 KWH Transmission charge- Aint that the same as distribution ? (maybe it's just me) 0.01729 Energy 'efficiency' charge- (aren't I doing that already?) 0.00596 Renewable energy charge- (Again- see above) 0.0005 All are X 15 KWH
0.03348 0.01729 0.00596 0.0005 X15 KWH
My basic is - 0.0811X15KWH
Not so bad- I have had the AC running and the pool heater too. $6.08 for the month.
Last month was $36.00- but still...
I got no complaints.

Leland: Are you kidding? $36 for a month with pool & AC?
Our (NJ) poco bills used to have a lot of 'items', but...there all condensed into the numbers above, excluding tax and a BGS Recon Chg/Credit.
De-regulation would allow energy purchase from other suppliers (generation), but I wonder if it's worth the hassles.
BTW: Nice that you're back & posting
