Hi All, I was asked by a young fellow if his Ipod would work OK in europe with a convertor he bought. I have not seen the specs but thought someone here could educate me. My 1st thought would be 50Hz vs 60hz?
Most of the Ipod adapters are 100-250 VAC 50-60 Hz. We had a young lass living with us who had an Ipod from the USA that we powered up through an adapter lead to run on 240VAC 50Hz with no problems.
Most computing gear is set up to accept both voltages, both frequencies. It's just a matter of getting the correct cord (for IEC-equipped components) or adapter to make the plug fit. But, you should always check; some older computer power supplies have a switch in the back that needs to be moved from 115 to 230.
Even if the voltage was a problem (to be overcome with a transformer, naturally), the frequency difference is unlikely to be a problem in this case, since output is just being converted to DC anyway.
