I received the Flat Rate Pricing system before I went on vacation. I disabled the sections that I wouldn't use & printed up a technicians book. I was very disappointed with the results & have decided to return it.
I'm in the process of putting together a book on my own. It's sending my unbilled hours through the roof, but it should pay off in the end.

It's in Word, Tom. Since I'm doing a book, I think I'll have better luck with the finished product in Word. Right now I'm using Home Depot's Worksite CD to create assemblies & am happy with the results. In the end I use my experience to confirm the numbers. I probably have about 20 hours in it so far (ouch), but I did a bid on the spot in front of a customer in two minutes & got the job, so that's a real winner in the unbilled hours category.
I don't use the book for invoicing. I rely on the old contract method. I give a price & if it's acceptabe I draw up a contract with carbonless contract proposals from an office supply.
It's really not that hard to do if you have the time.

That looks really nice, Les. I'm doing something similar. I got a zippered portfolio and use the plastic covers also. With the FRP I was around 200 pages. I think I'll be able to put mine together with about 30 pages. It would be half that if I printed on both sides like you are. How many sheets do you have, Les?

Dave,
Which flate rate system did you buy and what were your main objections to it, if you don't mind my asking? Just curious.

I could mail you a copy easy enough, Doug, but it's tied in with United Statea stores. When I open it I update the prices. If the prices are the same in Canada it would work. The labor times would still work.
