Clearly these guys have not been trained in Britain, or they would know that the proper way to bypass a BS1362 fuse is to wrap kitchen foil around the old blown fuse. At least then you can get the cover on!

My only explanation is they found the plug with the fuse already missing. Or they didn't have kitchen foil... btw, since that works with Diazed fuses too it's pretty international, though strands of copper were more common here. Back when receptacles still had built-in fuses kitchen foil was very common.
