Apparently there mobile phones in Japan with > 2mbit/sec access since 2001!

Makes our 3G offerings seem rather pathetic !

They're already looking at 4G ... speeds >20mbit/sec.

C-H, 1Gbps is almost fast enough for {tedious but still feasible} human teleportation. {And people think VoIP and movie transfers are tempting fate.}

Scott(y), I would fear one of those "file transmission interrupted" messages...

Mine, right now, is 733 down, 511 up.
I have had as fast as 1024 up, and a bit faster than 512 down (maybe 700 ish).
I don't have DSL technically, but a telco broadband technology called Etherloop.

Not yet Alan, no. We have had problems with the last leg of the line to our property again [Linked Image]

Also, I haven't managed to make my mind up who to go for yet! Looking at one-tel at the moment...

John, don't know if you've got your broadband yet but one worth looking at is www.adsl4less.com they do have a set up cost but the monthly sub is only slightly more than the better Dial Up services. Plus unlike a lot of the highly advertised companies they use IP stream the same as BT and not Data Stream which still seems somewhat prone to contention issues.

I'm on e7even £15/month 512k unlimited. Been fine so far (4 months). BT had to replace the local armoured cables as they weren't thick enough guage for ADSL, being 4km+ from the exchange, and others are still further down the line.

Just been upgraded to AOL platinum 2, 2.272M rx for £34.99 a month. Only £5 a month more than 1.1M on platinum 1.
