I have just installed a fence for a customer, that is sick and tired of youths breaking into the back of his restaurant and stealing food out of his (locked) freezer room.
I had an argument with him for a start, as he just wanted me to hook it straight up to the Mains!.
I said NO WAY, and fitted an Electric fence energiser to it.
What sort of security fences, do you guys have where you come from?, are there laws and regulations pertaining to thier installation?.
Just wondering.

I'm not sure about any regulations here, but I know some people have gotten into trouble for building fences with barbed wire or other similar sharp objects on the top (e.g. burglar tries to climb a 10 ft. fence to break into a place, gets badly cut on the razor wire on the top, then sues the owner for his injuries! ).

This area is rural, 20 miles from the big city, so there's not too much of a problem with security. The only electric fences I've seen are an occasional one to keep livestock in fields. But it's more crops than livestock around here, so even those are few and far between.

We actually have a whole Code of Practice covering this sort of thing.
It's called NZECP 21.2 and it has a very stern warning at the start of it:
There is also a section about putting warning signs on the fences to warn people that the fence is live.
