Does anybody know if, as a qualified electrician (in my country), am I allowed to work in your country?

As far as working as an electrician in England is concerned, there is no legal requirement to be licensed or certified in any way. And at least the one good thing the EU has done has given the citizens of any EU country the right to work in any other EU country, so there would be no need to obtain a work permit/visa here.

I think you might have to get a resident's card or something like that, similar to the carte de séjour in France, but that's all.

To get industrial/commercial work or to be employed as an electrician by a company, you would probably need to present a recognized trade qualification, such as certification by our NICEIC.

I don't know how you'd go about getting a Belgian qualification recognized, but it might be worth an inquiry. They have a website:
