This is a little off-topic, but what kind of a twistoid named it a bridge-tunnel?

Probably the same one who put up the PVC. [Linked Image]

Dave,

That's exactly what it is! Part of it is a bridge, and part of it is a tunnel. The tunnel part being there so ships can pass into the bay.

I have been over it myself, and there's a $10 toll to go over and through it. (it may be even more now.) I took when I travelled to Hampton, Virginia a few years ago via the Delmarva peninsula. Very scenic ride, and quite a bit of poultry along the way too.

I just went across/through this in July. I think it's 17 miles long all together.

As Peter said this is a bridge with 2 tunnels to allow ships to pass thru the Chesapeake Bay. The bridge part is fairly low to the water.

This is on the island at the end of one of the tunnels. It has a fishing pier, restaurant and gift shop on the island.

PS the toll is $12 now for the 17 mile trip.
