I need some help labeling something.

Are there any requirements for the marking of a door into an electrical room?

The room is off of a publicly travelled room, but can only be accessed using a controlled key.

Is this door required to be labelled? eg Danger high voltage, authorized personnell only, or something to that effect?

Thanks in advance

"DANGER-HIGH VOLTAGE-KEEP OUT"
Is the only "verbage" that I know of the code requiring. There are a few places that it is mentioned, but the first one that comes to my mind is the reference in 110-34. As you will see 110-34 is for 600v and over. I want to say that 370 and 230 both make references to signs. I'm refering to the '99 code. As far as I can think of, there are not many places that the code requires the use of warning signs. I will say that I think you will be doing the "right" thing, even if it is not required by the code.

Your Welcome in advance,
Doc

Steve:
If this room was located at many places I've seen (after all, who amongst us can resist the urge of following the sound of a humming transformer to it's source), the sign would read "PLEASE STORE AS MUCH TRASH AND RUBBISH AS POSSIBLE IN THIS ROOM". [Linked Image]

Seriously, At my place of work, such rooms are marked "ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT: AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY". Rooms which also contain 12470 Volt primary transformers are also marked "DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE - KEEP OUT"

Over 3000 miles away, yet a familiar problem!

Thanks for your reply, This room has 600 amp 480 volt main disconnect I line panel, two transformers, and 480 200 amp panel, and a 240 volt panel in it, as well as the control circuits for the parking lot lights. (I will send pictures of these eventually, as they look cool. repro cast iron "gas Lamps".) As it is one of the few rooms that is air conditioned around here, I suspect that someone will be making it an office too [Linked Image]. (maybe me).
As I said, it is under lock and key, so the trash should be kept to a minimum.

I think that the "electrical equipment, authorized personnel only" will be the one that I will put up.

Thanks again.
