While looking for something else I came across the following pictures of recent new construction and I had a question:





Does the receptacle inside have to be GFCI protected too?

Don't tell me this was ever hot! I've built iglus like that myself, but not in my wildest dreams I'd have thought of installaing any wiring in there! Snow is just frozen water and IMHO water and electricity don't mix too well...
Besides installing a light bulb in such a low structure would pose some problems I guess... and if they put a light bulb inside they'd have some serious heat issues

I think the inside fixture was a cool white florescent.

The N.E.C probbably does not coment on this type of construction. So I looked at the Canadian Electrical Code. And I came to the conclusion it is a catergory 1 location in a building of non-combustible construction. This would require that the structure be wired with NMWU, that both receptacles have W.P. covers on them, and that the light fixture be of W.P. construction. Since the structure does not have cooking facilities, it is not considered a dwelling unit, and therefore a G.F.C.I.is not required on either receptacle and A.F.C.I. not required in the sleeping area.
