Anyway, Active-1, and Hal have a good point about owning your domain name. I had a site through a company that shall remain name-less, who sold the domain out from under me a few years back. As I too was holding a domain name for a future biz. They sold it as my contract should have renewed, then the company/venture went under, and hey guess what, its for sale to the highest bidder now. (through another company, they trade them like used cars)
www.e57.com I gave up! And it doesn't make me mad anymore, really, it doesn't..... (I wont buy it back!) But it was the point of it. Trust no one, or so they say.
As far as hosting, there are loads of companies that do it cheap. Stay away from free hosting as it will wear on your customers and freinds with all of the pop-ups that support that FREE hosting, more like free-loading hosting. (I think the ECN sites actually have some complimentary banner ads, not sure... Looked at one some time ago.) But there is nothing like having porn pop-ups, or other unappropriate content spring to life everytime a potential customer checks out your site.
And with HTML software like Frontpage, you'll be amazed at how easy it is.
