Isn't it amazing what one can find on YouTube?

This appears to be the full and original "Play Safe" presentation made for British children in the 1970s, running for about 10 minutes:

I don't remember ever seeing this entire production before, but three of the segments from this (the fishing/camping accident, flying kites, and the frisbee) were shown regularly as separate 60-second Public Information Films on TV (each one ending with the "Play Safe" caption under an arc). I've posted the Frisbee one before, but this is the first time I've seen the others in years.

Kites & planes:

Frisbee (very slight cuts in this TV slot from the original, which I never realized before, not knowing that this had been taken from part of a longer presentation):

I've no doubt that those ads have impact. I wonder why they're not running these days ?

Perhaps childhood obesity prevents them from fitting through those bars!

Seriously though, I think in Ireland anyway we had a major shift in liability which has made substations much more tightly secured. They have to be basically impossible to get into.

Our current batch of road safety ads in Ireland are absolutely horrific.
So graphic it's just scary. They've taken those 1970s shock tactics and updated them for the unshockable audiences of the 21st century. These videos have had huge impact, but then some people find them so shocking that they change channel or cover their eyes when they play in movie theatres!

WARNING: These videos are intended to shock and are NOT suitable for those of a sensitive disposition.

They're used by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) in the Republic of Ireland and the DOE (Department of the Environment) in Northern Ireland with slight tweaks (number plates + police uniforms changed)

The US Armed Forces have been using extraordinarily bloody and graphic videos and briefs to discourage drunk driving and tired driving, too, as the US military loses far more personnel to traffic accidents than to the enemy. They're so disturbing, I don't even want to describe them here. People would go absolutely ape if they were ever shown somewhere a child could see...
