An owner of a single family home wants to install wind turbines and solar panels on his roof.
In a nutshell--What would you ask for as the plan reviewer who has to review the electrical portion of the job (not structural support)?
I have come up with: 1)A complete one-line diagram showing all associated equipment.
2)Show the location of all the equipment.
3)Provide Manuf. specs on all equipment.
4)Provide the rating of all OCPD's.
5)Provide dc system voltage of PV output circuit and combined turbine and PV output circuit.
6)Provide a letter from the utility giving their approval of the system.

In some areas, typical electrical-standards boilerplate for small PV/inverter installations is IEEE 929, UL 1741 and NEC 690.

Don't forget a "ladder logic" diagram showing how this mess will be controlled.

OK< sunlight resistant cables, wiring, suitable bushings, connectors, raceways, etc. Sunlight resistant ty-wraps, discos (utility requirement here)
The other AHJ is the solar cell maven, I'll see if he has a op to stop over here next week

If these Wind Turbines, Solar panels, and associated wiring don't comply, what would an inspector do? AS far as the power they produce, there would be no meter to pull or hold hostage. Roger

We install the same type of systems you are talking about. I assume you are on the ComEd grid. If the systems are to be grid-tied for net metering they must meet the UL1741 spec. mentioned. As far as I know, all of the off the shelf equipment does. I recomend that you go to http://www.bergey.com/ They have the most information and best wind turbines available. We are dealers for them and they are great. Bob
