Good Morning -

If I read this article correctly all 125 volt 15 and 20 amp recepticles in dwelling unit bedrooms must be arc fault protected.

Does this include lighting?

Smoke detectors?

Yes, it includes both. See the definition of "outlet".

The Arcfault breaker issue has many municipalities writing amendments, you should contact your local inspector and ask him, especially when it comes to smoke detectors.
