A UF cable to a lamppost must be sleeved through the concrete in order to comply with 340.12 (8).
Correct?
Not according to the installation instructions.

The installation instructions included with the lamppost show a cable routed through the hole in the bottom/side of the post and then concrete being poured in the hole.

Bill, Geo,

Yes, the installation instructions show concrete being poured around a cable which enters the post.

Lemme guess...the instructions have something along the lines of "Must be installed in accordance with local codes by qualified personnel..." which translates to "Loophole."

Redsy,

Can you scan the instructions and send it to me?

How about writing them a letter and asking them to explain? What do you think?

Bill

I will probably be asked to install it within a few days.
I'll double check the instructions and try to remember to keep them.

I guess this is one of those cases where following the instructions will get you in trouble.

Uses Not Permitted- 340.12(8) Embedded in poured concrete...

Few things are harder to put up with than the annoyance of a good example.
