Would it be legal to install a switch / ground fault receptacle combination device in a single gang switch box in a residential bathroom without installing a separate 20 amp circuit? Hypothetical situation: Old house. Second floor bathroom with only a switch for over head light, no receptacle in bathroom. Receptacle needed for electric shaver. It seems as if the year 2002 NEC would require such a separate 20 amp circuit.
Of course we know which is prefferable, but I was told our local inspectors would allow this because it is not an installation of a new outlet (see def. Art 100) but only a device change.
