I'm having a problem finding a supplier for lighting fixtures in a pole barn for the horse stalls.

What I'm looking for is the type that is dustproof/explosionproof (has a thick glass lens) that screws on to an attachment (surrounding the incandecent bulb) that slides over a common pigtail socket suspending from an octogon with center hole cover in the ceiling allowing it to swing if bumped.

I've seen them all over the place and have them in my own barn, yet nobody can remember who makes them or where they got them.

I have tried all the supply houses, but they look at me like I'm an alien, lol.

Anybody have a listing or link?

Its something like that, but can't be a fixed mount. It has to have some give in case it is knocked by an ansy horse.

Its funny how when an oldtimer overheard me at the supply house calling the fixture a piglight (so I found out from other local farmers) his ears perked up and new what I was talking about but saying they hadn't manufactured those for some time.

I ended up (more tired of looking and waisting time to get this job done) settling on a setup close to the above mentioned but dont have the manufacturer name and model handy with me at the moment.

It does come with the heavy clear glass cover with a metalic slipover shield, and sealing gaskets for all openings.

I'm wondering if I will still have a safe clearance at 9 ft with these crazy Clyde-Thoroubred mix monsters.

Do you think if the situation calls for it that I can get away with separating the base/lens from the box, install a center knockout octogon cover (pvc) and plug the gap with ductseal, replace the supplied wires with a piece of cavtair and physically secure the insulated section at the base/lens and the box, then in addition use a strain relief on the exposed cavatair again securing that to separate points on both those pieces? (hope that made sence, lol)
It wld only need to be about 3 inches to allow a bit of give.
