How do you guys sucure lighting whips? What code do you follow?

IF a whip requires support, they must be supported like any other flex or MC or whatever else you might be using. Attached to the structure with any number of approved supports i.e. 1 hole straps, Caddy conduit clips, mineralacs etc. If you want to clip them to a ceiling wire it must be a wire added for the support of conduit only, identified in some way and the clip must be listed for that use. Caddy K8 and K12 are common but there are others.

so you saying I need to strap it from 1 foot of box and light? We just normally put one batwing in the middle of the six foot whip.
