As some seasoned contractors out there already know, dont do extras or changes without a signed change order. for some reason when the job whinds down and final payment is owed to you, some customers go into shock when you hit them with a bill for what ever changes they instructed you to make. Its amazing how this works but i cant stress to you new guys who are new to the buisness and financial side of this thing. when a change is made on the job simply get it right out there. (OK LET ME FIGURE OUT WHAT THAT WILL COST YOU, AND I WILL WRITE IT UP FOR YOU). AND JUST LIKE WHEN YOU SIGNED THE JOB UP HAVE THEM SIGN AND BE AWARE THAT EXTRA NOT ONLY MEANS EXTRA WORK BUT ALSO EXTRA $$$$$. Some customers out there still facinate me with the nieve act.

Best thing to do is get the priced change order approved in writing do the work and bill out for it imeaditly. Do not wait for the end of the job. If you bill as soon as possible, you are more likley to be paid for the change order then if you wait and bill it at the end. Sticker shock causes a lot of customers to want to argue aboutyour bill. The sooner you can get paid the better.
