We're looking at removing some older(30 yrs plus) lead jacketed 5 kv cable(size 750). Can anyone tell me where I can get amperage on this cable??? I figure we only need 5 sets of 3-500s to replace it (2000 amp) in conduit in open air copper shielded. They had 5 sets of 750.Thanks in Advance.
Is this paper insulated lead covered 3 conductor cable in a duct bank? Why change. If you don't break the lead cover, it will last 300 years. In a duct bank, 1 cable per duct 100% LF amps = 505 75% LF amps = 550 50% LF amps = 581. If you have more that one cable in the ducts bank the rating drops. You probably need to contact a MFG to get the rating.

As far as I see by the code theres no derateing for 3 conductors in a conduit in a duct bank in open air, in the ground in a duct bank yes. As far as lead covered conductors, theres 3 one conductor cables in each pipe times five. They tested them and feel they should be replaced. Thanks fer input.
