I don't know where to post this so I am posting it here. I have an oulet in my house that is very very hot to touch. It's only this one and there is nothing plugged into it has there hasn't been for awhile now. What can and should I do about this?

I don't want to sound too alarmist, but if you know which circuit breaker or fuse it is shut it off immediately. If you are unsure, shut all of them off, if not the main circuit breaker as well. And look in your yellow pages for an electrician with 24 hour service. Don't be alarmed by the rates.... If at anytime you suspect you smell smoke, or hear any crackling sound call your fire dept.

TAKE e57's ADVICE RIGHT NOW!

There is no reason that any outlet should be 'very very hot to touch'.

The only reasons it would be hot at all are all bad.

This is how electrical fires start.

Yes, Turn it off and then I third e57's advice.
