I was watching some home fix-it show the other night and the guy running wire through industrial type metal studs didn't seem to be stapling them to the studs. I've never had to deal with it, but would like to know for future reference.

What product should be used for this?
This is the first time I've seen aluminum studs in a home. Is this unusual?

I do not deal with residential much. However, I finished my basement with steel studs. Caddy makes many products for this application.

The Caddy CG is great if the holes in the studs (generally every 2 linear feet) happen to fall where you'd like to strap your cable. (I don't like the idea of punching out any more holes than are absolutely necessary).
Personal opinion only, I like the Arlington CS www.aifittings.com/c_18.htm better.

Also, don't forget you have to have grommets where NM passes through a hole in a stud or in the plate. www.aifittings.com/c_13.htm

Scott, Wonder if your seeing more steel in residential? I know that finishing my basement was a snap with steel studs and there was little waste. I learned a few tricks on commercial projects and it adapted well to a basement finish.( I realize this is a bit off electrical.)
