Always when choosing a disconnect where motors are involved it is required by "CODE" to use the HP rating of the disconnect not the AMP rating.
I was told many years ago that there is two classifications for disconnects. 1- 80% rated which is the basic ones , normally the do not have HP rating. 2- 100% rated (big bucks)but this is the basis of the HP rating of the disconnect.
