As an engineer working with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineering systems, I often see coordination issues such as space constraints and clashes between services during design. Do professionals find that using Building Information Modeling (BIM) significantly reduces these problems? I’d be interested to hear others’ experiences.
I designed and coordinated building computer rooms in an earlier life. I suppose we were lucky that we had a single contractor who did the HVAC and electrical. The only plumbing was chilled water and that was just part of the HVAC contract. They were very familiar with that kind of project so my life was easy.
