Hey guys,
In the last couple of years I've had issues with things where you pay a yearly subscription to a service and then it automatically charges you again the next year, that I don't have an issue with.
But I started dealing with Patreon, where you are charged per month, I stopped this because I was being charged 2-3 times a month for the same thing, I only had 3 creators that I was supporting, I removed them from the subscriptions, yet I was still being charged even though I had no reason to be charged.
The other thing that happened was, once I removed my support, I was logged out of Patreon and couldn't log back in to check the settings of my account.

I managed (after a LOT of work-around) to contact the support email and they said to me that I need to sort this out from my end and tell the creators to refund the money that was taken out of my bank account. mad
In my opinion, this is really poor customer service.
And because these services are based (as a rule) in America, I can't call the local police to get them to sort out what is intrinsically theft, because once a service like this has your bank account details ( given to them in good faith), they can take what they like, no question.

I had the same issue with IOBit Software 3 years ago and I was eventually refunded NZ$ 980 after they would just keep taking money out of my bank account after I had stopped using their software (which turned out to be malware), 12 months previously.

There are NO controls over this sort of thing, once these places get your bank details, it is an open slather on your bank account.

Has anyone here had to deal with this sort of thing before and if so, how did you get it sorted?
No-one likes to have money "stolen" from them, especially from a deal that you signed up to and thought it was legit.

Your thoughts please?

Thanks,
Mike T.

I consciously avoid giving anyone my banking info unless I know I have recourse. Right now the only ones taking money directly from my bank is the power company and an insurance company. I give the rest a credit card and we have a pretty strong law here about credit card transactions.
