I often see well maintained houses with pad transformers in their front yards. These transformers often are either rusty or covered with graffiti. Chatting with folk, there seems to be a belief that washing or painting the transformer will somehow get you in trouble with the power company.
Another common sight are apartments where management seems to take the “lord” part of landlord far too seriously, posting many signs detailing the most petty rules.
The attached photo brings these thoughts together. Where are the PoCo paint police when you need them? 😀
The stencil job was my point. That I: the ONLY time I’ve seen anyone but vandals paint a transformer, it was by a property manager who thought it necessary to tell folks not to sit around in their front yard. It’s not about protection— I suspect an elephant could stand on it and not harm anything.
Contrast that with the countless property managers who fail to cover graffiti, or even paint over the rust on older units.
Now— How about this idea: If you’re going to write anything on the transformer, how about the street address? Do the pizza guy a favor, let alone the fire department.
Graffiti is a problem all over. The other morning, I was at a grade Railroad Crossing, and every railcar that went by was covered with graffiti. It was a long train too.
There is one highway overpass that the DOT paints over the graffiti, all that does is give them another 'clean slate'.

If leave graffiti intact it will reproduce it's self.
