This is a clarification question about 680.26; "Would it be considered BONDED" If #8 awg bare copper was brought from perimeter surface or pool shell to sub panel of pool equipment and then to motors and heater? In other words, "Do I have to run #8 to the heater or motor first as sub panel wouldn't be required to be bonded to equipotential, however could I? Would adding the sub panel and using its busbar for pool motors and heaters be code compliant?

Thanks,
DeAngelo

It is not the intent of the equipotential bonding grid to connect to the electrical grounding system. There will be incidental connections via the equipment grounding conductors but the 8ga solid only connects between the required items. (Pool steel, rail/ladder cups, incidental metal within 5', light niche and the electrical equipment)

It is actually possible to have a pool with no connection at all between the ground electrode and the equipotential grid. It would need a double insulated pump and no other electrical equipment but that is rare.

For most people, the concrete pool is their best grounding electrode although you can't really say it. Those electrons just can't tell the difference.
