I want to run some triplex low over a dome top portable canvas garage for temporary power. The garage has been there for years and will not be moved during the 40 days temp power will be used. NEC 225.19 requires 8'clearance and does not have any exceptions that apply to this situation.
Since the roof is not walkable it seems like the intention of exception #2 "where the roof has a 4/12 pitch or greater a reduction to 3'shall be permitted" should apply but it doesn't read that way. What's your opinion on this?

This sounds like a question for your AHJ.

The wiggle room might be whether this is actually a building or a 225.19(B) "nonbuilding"
Will he let you call it a tent? (or some "other nonbuilding")

Then you get your 3'.

Ditto to Gregs opinion; talk to your AHJ

From your description, I would have no issue with 3'

Nice! The AHJ is not available so I'm calling it a tent because that's what it is. Thanks for the feedback.
