I've noticed that sort of base station on HV pylons and two thoughts come to mind. 1 Does the HV transmission system have to be shut down for them to be worked on? and 2 Are there special measures incorporated to overcome EM interferance? The field strength must be enormous where they are located.

It looks like they locate the antenna low enough to get NESC clearance to the HV lines and I doubt a cell tower can even see 60hz.

I have seen cell tower horns on HV transmission tower, but I thought it was only there for support, not for power.

They are designed to be worked on while everything is live, but the equipment on the ground has to be outside the circle of influence from earth faults on the tower.

the transformer on the 11kv pole can only supply the one single base station

There are a lot of fibre optic cables on HV transmission pylons here, its wrapped around the top earth conductor
