I had an invitation to join Linkedin from a company that I do business with. What do you know about it. Is it worth my time or is just busy work? I don't do facebook because...well honestly I really don't care to know everything that you do. I know that it is business related but is Linkedin worth joining?

It might be an automated invitation because they allowed linkedin to access their address book.

From my experience,

LinkedIn is really just a bunch more bulletin boards like this one... and you can join any number of conversation boards related to topics or groups or companies that relate to your interests and business...

I'm not a social media guy myself... I joined Facebook under protest... lol... a business acquaintance talked me into it... don't really get it...

LinkedIn though is different... I belong to several different groups relating to contracting, sales and marketing and business...

I find that it is good to get different points of view and to get information from outside the box so to speak...

Just my two cents... hopefully its worth that much... lol

Linkedin is just for networking. Its not really a chit chat site like Facebook. Its for professionals. I have made some re connects with some people I used to do work with. I check it every couple of weeks. It has its merit. If you are not going to check it its not worth going on.
