Because we are not the USA
That said we could but why do we want to? I agree we both use the same products and for the most part Canadian and US rules are very similar in intent but there are some differences.

A province coould adopt the NEC but I think that could create a lot of legal problems for any installation that met CEC but missed NEC or vice versa.
Training. All those Canadian electricians would need to learn the NEC rules.

It looks like we need to be retrained, anyway. I hope they do something distinctly Canadian, like put "eh" at the end of the sentences.

I guess we do some things that may seem goofy to our friends north of the border...care to share your thoughts on what?

I understand the CEC will have a table that shows 14 wire as being good for 25 amps, and a rule that the over-current can't exceed 15 amps. BEAT THAT FOR GOOFY, USA!

That's exactly what the 2011 NEC Table 310.15(B)(16) says as well as each previous version (disclaimer; the oldest NEC in my office is 1987).

Looks like you guys are finally coming around, eh?

The 25 amp value can be used for derating, but over-current protection remains at the 15 amp maximum regardless.
