Hi All,
So I added the ability switch people from our local power company to Viridian. Anyone else think this may be something they would share with there customers. Anybody have any experiance with this market. Seems to be very competitive! Thoughts and or comments.

With deregulation came the ablitiy to switch energy generation suppliers. The actual mechanics of it is not to important. Its paper shuffling! The real meat is by switching to a 3rd party supplier customers can save $.01 or $.02 on the generation per kw. And Greg yes I'm believe these companies are like energy brokers. They by huge blocks and then sell it. The more they buy the cheaper.

I helped wire the HQ for an Emeryville, California energy broker about ten years ago. They were launched with internet boom money.
Even before the job was done the writing was on the screen: they were losing $500,000 per day because their wholesale 'spread' had reversed.
And that's what's the problem with energy brokers -- they go bust.
Unless Viridian has something special I'd expect to find that they are buying in the spot market -- at a discount -- and selling juice to you.
Should that situation ever change, it's game over for the broker.

Switching from the 'local' POCO to another generation source via the deregulation can save $$ per KWHr. As Tesla said, hopefully the broker can stay ahead of the curve on costs from whatever source they utilize.
Dereg of electric & gas came into NJ similar to a fabled nor'easter, with a flurry of advertising and offers. First to comm accounts and then down to resi. I have not heard of any 'disasters', nor have I heard of any really satisfied 'switchers'.
It sounds good in the ads, but what about reality?
Some of the 'happy' people I have contact with are very satisfied with PV systems that they installed, both comm and resi.
