Can a ambiance low voltage 300 watt transformer for under cabinet lighting be mounted in a attic.

My best guess would be probably not, since a lot of small transformers seem to have warnings about installing them in areas like that.

The only mention about Ambiance transformers in high ambient temps I can find on the Seagull website is in regard to their 24-volt dual output model 9465-12 transformer, which the specs say... "24v 1000w model has a high ambient rating for use in areas up to 55*C (132*F)".
The thing is though, that even around here, in the summer months an attic can easily get well over 132*F, so that could lead to issues.
I would maybe shoot an email to Seagull and see what they have to say.

Beside the mfg instructions, and opinion, I would suggest an inquiry to the local AHJ, as he is the persom that may or may not accept the install. Knowing the ambient temp in your area, and any relevant chatacteristice of the attic you plan the install in will help (attic ventilation, soffit vents, etc)

Is the transformer listed for the location? The first thing that comes to mind is ambient temperatures in the attic being greater than the listing of the transformer.

At the time I posted this I hadn't purchased the transformer and was looking for input, I know have the transformer and it does state not to exceed 120 degrees so I mounted it in a walk in pantry closet. Thanks for the input.
