Folks, It's been a LONG while since we've had one of these threads here, at ECN. We like the new members and wish that they keep on coming in. Started my career in 1978 in the Air Force as a power production specialist. After 4 years I go out and went to work for an electric contractor passed my JW exam 3 years later then my masters 4 years after that.Joined the IBEW in 95 and then in 2005 started my own business.At our peak we had 4 service trucks and eight guys and an office manager but the bad economy has taken its toll.Work is slowly comming in and I hope to get everyone back to full tiome soon
I started my Career in 1981 in a pulp mill the resession hit in 1982 and finished my training in 1988,first worked as shift electrician in a local sawmill and then back to the pulp mill doing new construction and some time on a line crew and ended my career on maintenance.decided to try working on my own 2008,now do reno work and some commercial work.Some weeks are very busy others are slow,word of mouth seems to get me the most work I have join a local networking group BNI and I do get some work with that connection.I very much like working for myself.It seems the older I get the more I want to be my own boss.My wife helps once in a while only on resi work here in Canada only resi work with a helper not an apprentice required.Still a lot of construction in this part of Canada.Vancouver Island.
