I have a job I bid on about a year ago to add some flourescent lights in a hallway in a school. Is there a code about the rating of lights in a school? I guess they have to be fire rated, but I thought all lay in lights would have to be. I notice the lights that are there now, are wrapped in ceiling tile in the ceiling area, like a "fire shield". Thanks for the input.. Steve..

Such a constructio is part of a 'listed assembly.' You will have to look at the original prints to see what the architect originally specified.

If you need a copy of a UL 'design number,' PM me.

You may want to look at an item by this company; it's made for maintaining the fire rating of light fixtures in rated assemblies.

"Tenmat" do a google search
