Hi guys I have PLC I am using for benchwork self teaching.I have a Allen Bradley Micrologix 1000 1761-L32BWA Series D PLC along with Micrologix 1000 10PT Starter Pac Toolkit Software. When I go to download program to PLC it tells me I have seris F software can not use with series D hardwre. I have looked for free series D software with no luck. Acording to Allen Bradley I need one of two softwre programs; cat.# 9324-RL0300ENE RSLLogix 500 Standard Edition Software or cat.# 9324-RL0700NXENE Professional Edition Software. Any ideas out there? Thanks PENNZ

If you have the free download software, 9324-RL0050ENE. It will only work with the 10 point MicroLogix 1000. Your part number returns a MicroLogix 1000, 120/240V ac power, (20) 24V dc digital inputs, (12) relay outputs. That should be a 1761-L10BWA (BWB,BXB). Simply put for your PLC you will need to buy software to program it, although you may be able to use RSLogix500 Starter Edition.

That is correct on voltage and inputs. I have RSLogix500 Starter Edition does not work. I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy software because of the crazy high price for it. Thanks for the input Crowbar.

Do you also have the interface box, between the PLC and the PC. I am sure there are newer USB adapters out there, but I use a 1747-PIC. If you have the adapter make sure the link to the PLC is using the correct device ie if you are using the PIC adapter the software needs to be set to PIC. This has caught me out a couple of times.

Just to be clear, I was referring to 9324-RL0100ENE, RSLogix 500 Starter, I am able to program the Micrologix 1000/1200/1500 as well as the SLC500 series. It sounds like you have 9324-RL050ENE, the free version when you say "Micrologix 1000 10PT Starter Pac Toolkit Software". This package only works with the 1761-L10 series, that's why its free. The Micrologix interface is typically DF1 via the serial port on the computer, if you do not have a serial port I've been told some USB convertors will work...and some don't. Also make sure RSLinx is running and configured for your controller.

Welcome to the world of PLC & computer programming. I do not know the answer to this particular problem you have but be advised that if you get into this area of the business be prepared to spend alot of time & money chasing software problems like this. It will be hard to build these costs into a project. That is just the nature of the business.

Software is supposed to always work the same way. The trick is to get it working the first time.

Good luck.

I got a hold of my local AB distributor he informed me that 9324RLO100ENE 500 starter software runs about $550.00+ there is another version 9324RLM0100ENE RSLogix Micro software for only $129.00 It looks like this software will do the trick it sopports Micro Logixs 1000,1100,1200,1400,and 1500.
Thanks for the help PENNZ
