Did you know that you can "split" water with a ballast? A slimline works best because it only has 2 high voltage leads. If you stick both the leads in the water you will see tiny air bubbles begin to form on them. Oxygen will cling to the + lead and hydrogen to the - side.
Do you also know that if you plug in a full 500' roll of 14 awg it wont blow the breaker?
wouldn't do it for long though, it pulls like 30 amps! Cool huh?

The output of a ballast is AC, there is no + and -. Both hydrogen and oxygen will be formed at each lead.
