I received an email today from Generac regarding my dealer status. "Based on your 2007 sales you are now listed as a Direct Dealer. This level allows you to purchase generators directly from Generac (as I always have). Should you wish to grow your business by being listed on our Dealer Locator website you will need to purchase $20,000.00 in generators AND have one factory trained technician on staff."

In 2007 I sold four generators yet I'm not worthy of being listed as a dealer on their website.

And I thought Generac couldn't treat their dealers any worse.

While visiting my folks in St. Louis ...

Seems St. Louis has had some power outages, seem to get worse every winter. Low and behold, there is somebody pushing 'whole house generators' for $5K installed ... or so I've heard.

People I've spoket to were not told of the other equipment needed, noise anf fuel issues, maintenance required, etc.

Now, can anyone name a 'cheap' generator, marketed to homowners, with a rotten track record for reliability, and that uses lots of proprietary parts?
