Do City, State, and Government Officials.... accept gratuities or gifts during the holidays?
Are you aware of any "off color" situations in the electrical industry?

As far as I know, it is not allowed down here in Houston. I think that they guard against that type of activity at all levels of government. I will add that if anyone out there is feeling the need "gratuitize", I'm always in the mood to receive. Especially if it is in the form of........cash.

Joe,
As an individual, I am not suppose to accept any gratuities or gifts. If however the general contractor of a big development wants to bring if a gift basket for the whole construction dept. Then I guess it is OK. (Not anyone is getting anything special. We are all sharing the gift basket.)

Joe: It's an ethics violation to accept any gratuities as an inspector. It's also a legal violation within the State of New Jersey.
Now, on the other hand, as a contractor (not within the township that I am employed by (part time), nor any town that "touches it's borders, I'm open for gratuities. (Kidding of course)
As to harold's comment re: the gift basket, a jesture of "good will" to the Construction Dept office is a nice touch. IMHO, each individual town Construction Official should be aware of any "goodies" and make an individual decission.

Joe, Although not a City or State Employee, it was years before my regular Electrical Inspector would accept a cup of coffee from me. Bill
